Viareggio


Viareggio,in the province of Lucca is situated about 13km from our guesthouse, is a beautiful and sophisticated turist location on the versilian coast, much appreciated worldwide. Viareggio is famous not only as a seaside resort, even for the Carnival, one of the most important in Italy and Europe, which animates the city for about a month with a full program of events and the spectacular parade of floats along the promenade of Viareggio. Viareggio, with the shimmering sea on one side and green hills on the other, is a wonderful city full of entertainment and clubs that make it a major Italian tourist destination. Moreover, in the territory of Viareggio is the lake of Massaciuccoli, where you can participate in various sports activities.

The Tuscan city, although it has lost some of its historical and artistic heritage during the Second World War, has several monuments and places of interest that are worth to be visited, among which stand out: Torre Matilde, the oldest fortification in the city, built in the sixteenth century as a watchtower against invasions from the sea; the Church of Saint Andrew, designed together with the adjoining rectory in 1842, the Church of Saint Pauline, built in 1896 and enlarged between 1936 and 1948 for the expansion of the city; Villa Borbone, beautiful villa set within a large park where you can find many nature trails, and the remarkable art nouveau architecture, deco and eclectic of many buildings spread within its territory. Amongst the museums present in Viareggio, we would like to mention: the Civil Museums of Villa Paolina, the Museum of Carnival town and the Muncipal gallery for modern and contemporary art staged in the historic Palazzo delle Muse.
